From Hand to Tongue: In Search of Protective Vibration

Performative sound installation with speakers, div. found objects and artist booklets

In the form of a geomantic formation, the artist constructs a temporary sonic sculpture using materials gathered during her research journey in Hong Kong. Pursuing the notion of composing a new mantra—an arrangement of vocal sounds that transcend semantic meaning—she engages with various spiritual and esoteric rituals, encountering practitioners who employ the voice as a primary tool in their practice. During a live performance that weaves together the city’s spiritual soundscape and diverse voices transmitting verbal—or rather non-verbal—information, the artist seeks to reveal the hidden mantra that carries a continuous, protective vibration.
