“It was so quiet that the pins dropped could be heard…” (2011)

plexiglass plates, pins, magnets, mirror ball motor, mini glass bottles | dimensions variable

A slowly rotating motor moves magnets which are fixed on a acrylic glass bar. Laboratory glass bottles filled with pins are located on the bottom side of the lower acrylic glass pane. The movement of magnets pushes the pins upwards for a tiny moment, afterwards they are falling back on the bottom of the glass bottles.
This installation produces delicate, faint, high-pitched hitting sounds, which request a high attention and a quiet reception from each visitor.
